SUMMARY:Peterkin / Goodwyn Tract
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday March 25th at 10:30 AM\, SCAN will be visiting Dick Watkins’  eterkin/Goodwyn Tract\, the Sam and Kam Arant property\, as well as the historic Ft Motte Fort and Battle site next door\, (compliments of Luther Wannamaker). These three fantastic properties overlook the Congaree Park Basin with the National Park just across the river in the flood plain below. We will caravan from one property to the other\, (they are next door to each other). This trip will include the historical aspects of the land as well as the natural flora and fauna. There may be some plants not discovered in this area yet\, and only found up north. The north facing slopes/bluffs may need attention. Cross the Congaree River and continue 2 miles.\nTurn right onto Adams Rd. There is a small cafe opposite side where you turn.\nGo 1/4 mile on Adams Rd and turn right onto Lang Syne Rd. Follow Lang Syne Rd all the way to where it forks and turns to dirt. About 2 1/4 miles.\nTurn left onto Wise Rd. Follow Wise Rd about 1/2 mile.\nAt the RR crossing\, turn right and go over the RR tracks.\nAfter crossing the tracks immediately go left and then an immediate right again. You will be following the dirt road up the hill and away from the RR tracks. You will be driving along a line of cedar trees.\nFollow the cedar trees for 1/2 mile. Turn into the gate on the left.
