SUMMARY:Barton-Guild Edisto Tract
DESCRIPTION:Barton-Guild Tract\nLexington County\, South Carolina\nSaturday\, April 26\, 2025\, 10:30am to 4:30pm \nThe Barton-Guild Tract on the North Fork Edisto River is a private conservation property in Lexington County. It consists of 37 acres that include a pond\, open field area\, forested wetlands\, bluff forest and the river floodplain. Each habitat provides natural areas for diverse species of plants and animals. The property is used for general outdoor recreation\, nature study\, gardening\, and other outdoor improvements. The landowners have done some ecological restoration with the plantings of longleaf pine\, bald cypress\, and other native tree species. Much of the property’s uplands are currently in an early-successional “old field” condition consisting of grasslands mixed with scattered\, naturally seeded-in shrubs and trees. \nFor more information on this outing\, email Kim McManus.
